MOGA, FEB 13
: Condemning
the brutal rape of a four year girl in Rama Mandi in Bathinda, Punjab
Pradesh Congress Committee president Capt Amarinder Singh today warned
that Punjab was heading towards anarchy as the Akalis, particularly the
Badals had given up governance as they were engrossed in other things.
“Every
day there are reports of rape and murder in Punjab and the government
claims that it was the safest state in the country”, he said, while
addressing a series of public meetings in villages Landike, Duneke,
Sadasinghwala and Thammanwala in support of the party candidate for the
ensuing byelection Vijay Sathi.
Blaming
the Chief Minister, Mr Parkash Singh Badal, and his Deputy Chief Minister
son Sukhbir Badal for the lawlessness and anarchy, he said, while the
senior Badal had virtually given up, Sukhbir had left it entirely to his
brother in law Bikram Singh Majithia who had unleashed goonda-raj in
Punjab. “With the result”, he added, “not only the common people even
policemen were feeling insecure”.
He
pointed out as how a police official was brutally killed in Amritsar by
an Akali leader just because he objected to the attempts of eve teasing
of his daughter and how those who killed him were shouting slogans in
support of Bikram Majithia. He said, in another shameful incident a
close aide of Bikram Majithia beat up an AIG in Ludhiana. Besides, he
added, another Akali leader again with Majithia’s patronage abducted a
young girl from her house in Faridkot.
As
if that was enough, Capt Amarinder added, there were daily reports of
rape and murder and today everybody woke up to the shocking and shameful
news of a four year old being raped in Bathinda. He said, this was
because the Badals were interested more in enriching themselves by way
of grabbing transport, sand, liquor and cable business than governance.
The
former Chief Minister warned people against getting misled once again.
He pointed out the Akalis had cheated them earlier also and now they had
joined hands with Joginderpal Jain to cheat them again. “Beware you
don’t allow yourself to be cheated again”, he warned while urging them
to vote for Vijay Sathi who was a scrupulously honest person with a neat
and clean image.
Others
present on the occasion included Vijay Sathi, Rana Gurjeet Singh,
Milkiat Singh Birmi, Darshan Singh Brar, Jeet Mohinder Sidhu, Karanpal
Sekhon, Major Amardeep, Sonu Dhesi, Jagdeep Sidhu, Jaspal Dhillon, Pawan
Dewan and others.
