Germany proposes all possible agri-sector cooperation to Punjab

 A delegation of Federal Parliament of Germany today called on Punjab Ministers Mr. Adaish Partap Singh Kairon, Food and Civil Supplies Minister, Mr. Parminder Singh Dhindsa, Finance Minister, Mr. Anil Joshi, Industries and Commerce Minister and Mr. Gurbachan Singh Babbehali, Chief Parliamentary Secretary Agriculture, Punjab to hold a discussion over the agri-sector.
           Proposing all possible cooperation from the German Government, the delegation lauded the contribution of Punjab in the national food kitty and its ongoing development in agriculture sector.
           Mr. Adaish Partap Singh Kairon informed the delegation about the hard work of farmers of Punjab, who made country a self-sufficient on food security front. He said that Punjab Government was providing free power and subsidies to the farmers besides exemplary procurement process in the country. He said that Punjab has added a record yield of 135 lakh tonnes of paddy and 128 lakh tonnes of wheat in the central pool in the current session. He also said that the farmers of Punjab were prefer to follow the wheat and paddy crop circle due to unavailability of requisite Minimum Support Price on other crops but the state government was committed to bring diversification in Punjab.   
           Dr. Max Lehmer, Member of German Federal Parliament said that German and India should initiate the process to further strengthen the bilateral relations between duo nations especially in the field of agriculture. He said that German was ready to extend all possible help to Punjab in the field of agriculture.
           Earlier, Mr. Anil Joshi, Industries and Commerce Minister, Punjab welcomed the delegation while Mr. Parminder Dhindsa, Finance Minister extended vote of thanks. The German delegation was comprised of Mr. Mechthild Heil, Haynes Poula, Gabriela Gainsbourg, Dr. Erich Skyvicket, Alexander Submayor, Harleyd Ibner and Allence Graig. Prominent amongst those were present on the occasion included Mr. G.S. Kalkat, Chairman Punjab State Farmers Commission, Mr. G.S. Sandhu, Financial Commissioner Development and Mr. D.S. Grewal, Secretary Food and Civil Supplies, Mr. Satwant Singh Johal, Advisor/Agriculture, Mr. Balwinder Singh and Dr. Mangal Singh Sandhu, Director Agriculture.
