365512 tonnes wheat procured in Punjab

          Wheat procurement in Punjab picked up its momentum as government agencies and private millers procured more than 365512 tonnes of wheat till last evening. The State Government that deputed more than eight Secretary level officers to monitor the largest ever procurement operation has activated more than 1750 procurement centres and activated its total machinery to ensure smooth procurement of wheat.
A Spokesman of the Punjab Government today said that strict instructions have been issued that  payment to the farmers have to  be ensured within 48 hours of lifting of the Wheat from the Mandis. The state government has constituted Dispute Redressal Committees in every mandi/purchase center. Besides that food and civil supplies department has already established  24 hours control room in headquarter at Chandigarh and also in district offices, where farmers could contact in emergency. He further said that Punjab Mandi Board also made arrangements of water and shades for farmers.  
He said that for the facilitation of farmers and artiahs, State government has made all arrangements to ensure the lifting of wheat within 72 hours of purchase.
The spokesman further said that to check malpractices, Punjab Mandi Board and Food and Civil Supplies department have constituted teams for raids during the purchase season across the state and in any kind of difficulty farmers could directly approach these teams or  food and civil supplies department.
He said that Out of total procurement of 365512 tonnes of wheat in all the procurement centers of Punjab, Government agencies procured 361442 tonnes of wheat till date whereas private traders procured 4070 tonnes of wheat. PUNGRAIN procured 49723 tonnes (13.06%), MARKFED procured 94949 tonnes (26.00%). whereas PUNSUP had procured 78365 tonnes (21.04%) PSWC procured 38691 tonnes (10.06%) whereas PAIC was able to procure 54912 tonnes (15.0 %) of wheat.The Central Government agency FCI had been able to procure 44802 tonnes (12.03%).
