Punjab poised to conduct zila Parishad elections

The Punjab Government is all set for conducting elections for Zila Parishad/Block Smiti/Panchayat. The process for elections would immediately star after the announcement by the state election commission, all preliminary arrangements have been completed by the Punjab Government in this regard. It was disclosed by Punjab Rural Development and Panchayat Minister Mr. Surjit Singh Rakhra.
 The Minister said that the digital maps and complete information about wards have already been uploaded on official website. Mr. Rakhra said that two more additional days have been granted to all the officers who have yet not uploaded the information on the website. He also directed all DDPOs to furnish complete information regarding work done till date, in this regard. He said that any officers found guilty of non compliance would be brought to the books.
Mr. Rakhra further said that 81757 wards have been demarcated for electing of 13111 panchayats. The election must have to be conducted before May 31. He said that 333 zones have been formed for the election of 22 Zila Parishad and 2732 zones for 145 Block Samiti.
