Double entry accounting system in local bodies

The Punjab Government has introduced Double Entry Accounting System in its all 141 Local Bodies of the state.
          Disclosing this here today, Mr. Chunni Lal Bhagat, Local Bodies Minister, Punjab said that Punjab has formed a panel of 12 Charted Accountants for 141 local bodies to implement this internationally recognised system of Double Entry Accounting in true spirit. He said that earlier there was a single entry of transactions in the Local Bodies but now there would be double entries for both debit and credit transactions.
          The Minister asserted that this system would also bring transparency in financial transactions of Local Bodies including Municipal Corporations, Municipal Councils and Municipal Panchayats. He said that Double Entry Accounting system would also ease the process of taking loans for Local Bodies.
DEPTS TOLD TO SEND LEGISLATIVE MATERIAL AS PER RULES
 The Punjab Government has asked all the departments to send the legislative material slated to be tabled in the assembly as per the norms and regulations of Punjab Legislative Assembly.
Disclosing this here today, an official spokesperson of the Parliamentary Affairs Branch said that the departments have been instructed to send legislative material strictly adhering to the sub sections of Rules 115, 121 and 122 of the Proceedings of Punjab Legislative Assembly.
Besides this, all the departments have also been asked to furnish an advance copy of the reply on the call attention motions.
EDUCATION DEPT DIRECTS SCHOOLS TO LINK WITH SOCIAL NETWORKING SITES
To provide the information regarding the education improvement technique, policies and activities and to link the schools with the common platform of technology,  the Punjab Government has make the social networking site (www.facebook.com/ssaapb) and directed  the schools to link the same.
Disclosing this here today, a spokesman of education department said that the department has asked the schools to upload the information regarding the school activities on this site. Spokesman further said that information, photos and videos of school activities can be uploaded on this site so that other schools know the activities of their counterparts.
He said that account of the school on this site was mandatory to link with the face book site so all the schools should make their face book account to link with www.facebook.com/ssaapb and upload the site regularly.
REPORT SOUGHT ON ACHIEVEMENTS FROM DEPARTMENTS
 The Punjab Government has sought brief report on achievements/important issues scheduled to be tabled in Punjab Legislative Assembly from all departments by March 8, 2013.
Disclosing this here, an official spokesperson said that earlier this report was sought by February 28, 2013 but some of the departments have yet not furnished the same. He said that in the new instructions issued to departments, it has been told to submit brief report on achievements/important issues though special messenger in Room No.18, Second Floor, Punjab Civil Secretariat-1 by March 8. The spokesperson further said that the achievement reports from the departments are being sought for presentation in forthcoming 4th session of the 14th Punjab Legislative Assembly.
DATE EXTENDED FOR SUBMISSION OF FORMS FOR JET
The Punjab State Board of Technical Education & Industrial Training has extended the date to submit the admission application forms till March 26, 2013.
Disclosing this here today a spokesperson of the Punjab government said that earlier the last date for the submission of form was 7th March, which has now been extended keeping in view the demands from the students. He said that JET test which was scheduled to be held on 7th April 2013 has also been escheduled to 21st April 2013.The admission for various Diploma Courses to be made on the basis of rank obtained by candidates in the JET 2013.
He further said that the JET Refresher 2013 has been made available free of cost on the Board’s website.
