The Punjab Government has at stage sought an apology from the Opposition Congress party in
the state and therefore there is no occasion for latter to accept or decline
any such demand.
"The Congress response on these
lines is irrelevant. The issue is not between the government and the Congress.
It is between the House and the Speaker on the one side and the Opposition on
the other. At no stage did the government even seek an apology as it was not
even in order for it to do so," said Mr. Harcharan Bains , Chief
Minister's Advisor on National Affairs and Media, reacting to reports on the
Congress refusing to apologize to the government.
