Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today extended his warm greetings to
the people of Punjab on the sacred occasion of 'Mahashivratri'.
In a message, Mr. Badal said that Lord Shiva is the Lord of mercy and
compassion. Lord Shiva protects devotees from evil forces such as lust,
greed, anger and grants boons, bestows grace and awakens wisdom in his
devotees. Mr. Badal urged the people to celebrate 'Mahashivratri'
festival with traditional fervour and gaiety as such festivals not only
promote communal harmony, compassion and goodwill but also bring joy and
prosperity.
Mr. Badal also appealed the people to celebrate this auspicious occasion
collectively by rising above the petty considerations of caste, colour, creed
and religion.
Deputy Chief
Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal also
greeted the people of Punjab on the auspicious occasion of Mahashivratri.
In a
message, Mr. Sukhbir said that Mahashivratri inspires the people to strive
towards the pursuit of truth that leads to the ultimate consciousness
epitomized by Lord Shiva. He said that the festival laid stress on the values
of piety, devotion, mutual love and harmony, the cornerstones of the great
Indian civilization.

Bhagat and Mr. Madan Mohan Mittal, Cabinet Ministers of Punjab today greeted
the people of Punjab on the auspicious occasion of Mahashivratri.
In a message, the
both ministers said that Mahashivratri inspires people to strive towards the
pursuit of truth that leads to the ultimate consciousness epitomized by Lord
Shiva. The Festival, they said that, laid stress on the values of piety, devotion,
mutual love and harmony, known as the cornerstones of the great Indian
civilization. They expressed the hope that Mahashivratri would foster sense of
universal brotherhood, coexistence and tolerance among all section of society.
