CHANDIGARH, MARCH 25
The Punjab
Government has decided to rationalize 818 government primary and upper primary
schools in different blocks of the state for effective management and smooth functioning.
It was disclosed by Mr. Sikander Singh Maluka, Education Minister, Punjab.
In a press
communiqué, Mr. Maluka said that during review, many shortcomings have noticed
in the management of primary and upper primary schools. He said that some of the
blocks have primary and upper primary schools in large numbers, whereas some of
the blocks have comparatively less number of schools, which results in uneven
distribution of work load on the teachers. The Education Minister further said
that the blocks, where the schools are in abundance, the work load over the
teachers increases, on the other hand the blocks, which have less number of
schools, the work load over the teachers is comparatively much less.
Mr. Maluka said
that keeping this problem in mind, the Punjab Government has decided to
rationalize the number of schools in each block. He said that the
rationalization would come in force from April 1, 2013 and Director General
School Education (DGSE) Mr. Kahan Singh Pannu has been instructed to furnish the
details of the schools comes under rationalization before April 1, 2013 to the
District Education Officers (Elementary Education). Mr. Maluka further said
that it would be the duty of the parental block (before the rationalization) to
submit the utilization certificates of the use of government funds.
