Punjab to organise Punjabi Film Festival every year

The Punjab Deputy Chief Minister, Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal, today announced that Punjab government would organize Punjabi Film Festival every year on the pattern of Indian Film Festival to give recognition to outstanding and offbeat Punjabi movies.
Speaking to media persons at the world premier of Punjabi film “Aaj De Ranjhe” scripted and directed by Manmohan Singh here today. Mr. Badal said that the way Punjabi Cinema has evolved itself in recent years it was giving a stiff competition to Bollywood as far as quality and standard of film making was concerned. He said that Punjab government was fully conscious of need to promote Punjabi cinema and this festival would be catalytic in giving impetus to Punjabi movies to strive for the best.
Mr. Badal praising Manmohan Singh with offbeat movie “Aaj De Ranjhe” said that besides being entertaining this movie conveys the underlying message to the masses. He said that he was happy that this movie has tried to educate public regarding reforms in Punjab police initiated by him.
On this occasion stars of the movie Aman Dhaliwal, Heroine Gurleen Chopra, Comedian Gurpreet Ghuggi, Rana Ranbir welcomed Deputy Chief Minister.
