Capt Amarinder seeks Ranike’s arrest

by Punjabnewswire4u
NABHA (PATIALA), SEPT 13
Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee President Capt Amarinder Singh today demanded the dismissal of Animal Husbandry Minister Gulzar Singh for his involvement in the embezzlement of rural development fund in Attari assembly segment meant for poor people. He said, the inquiry ordered by the Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal was just eyewash aimed at shielding and protecting him.
Addressing a well attended public meeting organised by the Nabha MLA Sadhu Singh Dharamsot here today, Capt Amarinder said, this government was mired neck deep in corruption and implicating the Congress workers was its only job now. He ridiculed the orders of inquiry to be conducted against Ranike by the same Deputy Superintendent of Police who has been appointed by him (Ranike) only. “Ranike must be immediately dropped from the government and put behind the bars”, he asserted.
Lashing out at the Revenue Minister Bikram Singh Majithia, he said, despite coming from a respectable family, he has turned out to be a goon of highest order who has been bullying and victimising people. Ridiculing Majithia’s demand for providing proof, the PCC President said, each and every person in Majitha knows as how he has unleashed a reign of terror on the Congress workers. So much so he did not allow any marriage palace owner to rent his premises for the Congress programme, he pointed out, while adding, this is never done in a democracy.
Asking the Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and the Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal as what had happened to their promises of aata-daal, laptops, surplus power and other things, the former Chief Minister said, this government was totally alienated from the people and he won’t be surprised if this government did not complete its full term.
Capt Amarinder said, he had special relationship with Nabha and its erstwhile ruling family. He specially mentioned late S Gurdarsharan Singh who, he said, was a great man and a noble soul. He said, both the Patiala and the Nabha families had the common ancestors and they had been baptized by the tenth Master Guru Gobind Singh Ji at Takhat Damdama Sahib in 1702.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister of State for External Affairs Ms Perneet Kaur reminded the Akalis about their double standards. She pointed out, while at the centre they were demanding the resignation of the Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh although he was no way to be blamed, they were shielding a corrupt minister like Ranike in Punjab.
She said, the opposition was deliberately trying to mislead the people but their bluff had been called. He said, the BJP and its allies like Akali Dal had now been totally been exposed and now they were seeking a face saving.
Addressing the meeting the Congress Legislative Party leader Sunil Jakhar said, as if the Akalis were not enough to divide people of Punjab, the BJP had joined in by trying to create a division between the rural and urban population. He referred to the demand by senior BJP leaders that the power subsidy to the farmers should be withdrawn so that there is no need for imposing the taxes.
Punjab Congress vice president Laal Singh said, Sukhbir Badal was behaving like Aurangzeb. He seems to have got Aurangzeb’s soul into himself while Bikram Majithia was acting like his cruel Governor of Mughal period who would forcibly convert people to Islam. He said, similarly Sukhbir through Majithia was bullying, hoodwinking and arm-twisting the Congress workers to join the Congress.
Prominent among those present included Sadhu Singh Dharamsot, Hardayal Kambhoj, Madan Lal Jalalpur, Nirmal Singh Shatrana, Harinder Bhambri, Surinder Gupta, Ramesh Singla, Sonu Dhesi, Major Amardeep, Jagdeep Sidhu, Chiranji Lal Garg and others.
