Punjab to construct five Mother-Child hospitals

 Punjab Health & Family Welfare Minister Madan Mohan Mittal  stated that in order to provide specialized health care, particularly obstetric care and paediatric care, the Punjab Health Department is all set to begin construction of modern Mother and Child Hospitals during the current Financial Year and these shall be made operational within 15 months time. The Mother and Child Hospital is a specialized facility for providing high quality healthcare services to women and children. Mother and Child care at these specialized hospitals will be of high professional standard and will come fully equipped with all diagnostic and clinical facilities.
He added that the proposal of the Punjab Government for providing these state-of-the-art facilities at five Mother and Child Hospitals costing a total of Rs.69.00 crore has been accepted by the Government of India under the National Rural Health Mission programme. He revealed that Mata Kaushalaya Hospital, Patiala will be given an additional bed capacity of 100 beds at a cost of Rs 18.00 crores, additional 73 bed capacity will be created at Civil Hospital at Amritsar at a cost of Rs 11.00 crore, additional bed capacity of 50 beds at Civil Hospital, Bathinda and Jalandhar at a cost Rs 10.00 crores, each. Civil Hospital Ludhiana will be upgraded with additional 100 bed capacity at a cost of 69.00 crores.
