Guidelines to fill NRI vacant seats in medical/dental colleges

          On the directions of Punjab Chief Minister  Parkash Singh Badal, the State Government today issued detailed guidelines for the admission to MBBS/BDS courses in Medical and Dental Colleges from the unfilled NRI seats.
          Disclosing this here today, a spokesperson of the Chief Minister’s Office said that the notification in this regard had been issued by the Department of Medical Education & Research. The notification stipulated that the admissions would be strictly made on the basis of merit obtained in the PMET-2012 examination conducted by Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS), Faridkot and eligibility percentage for these admissions would be as per the guidelines of the Medical Council of India/Dental Council of India. The concerned institutions would give wide publicity to these unfilled seats and would ensure the availability of application forms to the candidates in their institutions as well as BFUHS on the fee equal to the free charged by the University. The candidates would be free to deposit the application form either with the institutions or with the BFUHS. The applications received at the institutions and the University would be considered together for the selection and admission in a particular institution. The institution would conduct the counseling on the fixed date in consultation with BFUHS. The counseling/selection committee would include the nominee of the University and the Government.
          Meanwhile, the BFUHS had also been asked to give wide publicity of this notification in the leading News Papers in the state highlighting the procedure.
