CHANDIGARH, SEPT 15
Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee President Capt Amarinder Singh today welcomed the proposal of the Sanjha Morcha Chairman Manpreet Badal urging him to call an all party meeting (of the opposition parties in Punjab) to chalk out the course of action in opposing the anti-people policies of the Punjab government.
In a statement issued here today, Capt Amarinder said, he was glad to learn that Manpreet Badal had proposed that he (Capt Amarinder) should convene a meeting of all the opposition parties in the state.
The PCC President said, after the Sanjha Morcha stages its dharna against the government on September 21, he will call all the opposition leaders and fix a date that will be mutually convenient to everyone.
He said, the opposition unity was the need of the hour since the Akali-BJP government had betrayed and let down the people of Punjab and now it had come out with punitive taxation. He expressed confidence that the opposition parties will work together to make this government realize its mistakes and anti people policies besides oppression on opposition workers and the punitive taxes.
