Jeevanjot and Mayank hit centuries for Punjab

Jeevanjot Singh the boy with the golden touch came good once again when he followed his brilliant double hundred against Hyderabad on debut by notching up another unbeaten ton (102) against Bengal  in their group A match in the Ranji Trophy here today.  He became the first Indian batsman to have scored a double ton on debut to follow it by a century in the following match.
In company of Mayank Sidana unbeaten (107) he posted an unbroken stand of 206 for the second wicket to put Punjab in the driver’s seat. Punjab finished the day on 229 for 01 in 70 overs. Jeevanjot reached his hundred  off 201 balls studded with 10 boundaries while Mayank Sidana reached his coveted century (107) not out off 190 balls studded with 17 boundaries. Lakshmi Rattan Shukla scalped  1 for 35 for Bengal.
 In the morning Bengal starting at 280 for 7 overninght were shotout for 326 in 108 overs. Right arm leg spinner Rahul Sharma scalped all the three victims today and returned of 4 for 53.  Wriddhiman Saha was unlucky to miss his ton by two runs when in his bid to farm the bowling, he drove Rahul Sharma uppishly in cover region to bring down curtains on Bengal innings. Wriddhiman Saha’s vigil at the crease for 286 minutes was studded with 10 boundaries and one six. 
 Brief scores: Bengal  (Ist innings): 326 all out in 108 overs (Wriddhiman Saha  98, Lakshmi Rattan Shukla  62,Rahul Sharma  4 for 53, Manpreet Gony 2 for  54 , Sandeep Sharma  2 for 53).
Punjab (1st innings):  229 for 1 in 70 overs (Jeevanjot Singh 102 not out, Mayank Sidana  107 not out, Lakshmi Rattan Shukla  1 for 35).
