Placement of students be top priority for technical education department, says Joshi

Mr. Anil Joshi, Technical Education and industrial training minister, Punjab today issued instruction to the Technical Education Department to impart training to the students on latest machines for improving the standards of technical education in the state. He was addressing a meeting of the senior officials of the department.
The Minister informed that placements of the students in the high ranking firms would be their top priority. He said that a JOBFEST was being organized at Ludhiana on November 29, in which more than 60 reputed companies were participating. He said that selections for more than 1200 vacancies were likely to be made in this JOBFEST.
He also called upon the officers to work out the feasibility of starting of short term courses in sectors which were relevant in the present day requirements by giving special care to the school dropout. In the meeting it was stressed by the Minister that quality products should be purchased under PPP and COE scheme and no payment should be released to the suppliers without the physical verification of the material. He instructed the officers to pursue the Pending affiliations from NCTV at the department level. Discussions about introducing Biometric attendance and installation of CCTVs in the institutes for ensuring the attendance of students and faculty were also discussed.
