SAD condemns attack on senior Akali leaders

The Shiromani Akali Dal  strongly condemned an attack on the senior SAD leaders in the executive committee meeting of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee by Sarna Brothers and their supporters and described this action as shameful, undemocratic, highly provocative and a part of deep rooted conspiracy to forcibly keep the possession of Delhi Gurdwaras illegally with the patronage of Congress led Shiela Diskhit government. The party demanded a high level inquiry into the whole incident, immediately registration of case against the culprits and the arrest of all those involved in the violent attack on Akali leaders.

            In a strongly worded statement released from the party head office here today, the party Secretary and Spokesman Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema said that top leaders of the SAD’s Delhi unit including its President Manjit Singh GK who is also an elected member of DSGMC, were attacked without any provocation by  Parmjit Singh Sarna, Harvinder Singh Sarna and their armed supporters. He said that this action is a deep rooted conspiracy and Sarna Brothers are implementing the game plan of the Congress party only to keep the control of  the DSGMC with them. This is an other illegal  and indecent move to avoid general election.

Dr. Cheema further said that action has vindicated the stand of the SAD that Congress is directly interfering into the sikh affairs. He said that the Shiela Dikshit government and Congress led UPA government was hand in glove with the Sarna brothers and have come openly to support them. He said that the earlier move by the Dikshit government to recommend direct election for the post of the President of DSGMC was also a part of the plan to help the Sarna brothers. He said  the SAD had strongly opposed the move and SAD Patron S. Parkash Singh Badal had approached the Prime Minister to intervene in the matter. But now the Congress has adopted the path of instigating violence and attacks on the SAD leaders only to horrify the SAD leadership of the Delhi unit.

            The SAD Spokesman warned the Congress party that it should immediately stop meddling into the affairs of the sikh community. Dr. Cheema said that SAD will take this issue to the sikh masses and will ensure that persons like Sarna who are dreaming of coming to power in collusion with the Congress party are strongly defeated in the coming general elections of the DSGMC.
