Kenya keen to replicate Punjab's transport computerisation model

 The Governance Reforms initiated by Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal got a major thumbs up from Ministry of Transport of Kenya as it sought to replicate computerization of Transport Department of Punjab in Kenya.
     In a communiqué to Secretary Transport, Punjab, Mr. Francis Meja, Registrar of Motor Vehicles, sought the assistance of Punjab Government and its agencies for automating their road transport sector. He said that he has communicated that Kenyan Government would like to replicate the Punjab system for online application of road sector documents such as driving licenses and motor vehicle registration certificates. They have also expressed desire to replicate the centralized data of Transport Sector. They have also expressed interest in  Punjab’s experiment of CCTV Camera to improve traffic regulation. The Kenya Government has also sought assistance of Punjab Transport Department in smart driver licenses and Motor Vehicle Number Plates.
    Appreciating the online model of Punjab Transport Department, the Kenya Government has also shown desire to replicate the model being adopted by Punjab for shared data both through internet and mobile technologies.
             Mr. Meja has communicated that Kenya would like to send a six representatives of Multi Agency Committee constituted by them to implement this project. The Kenyan delegation is expected to visit next week and transport department is coordinating their arrangements.
