Punjab Congress vice president and former MLA Rana KP today
demanded the dismissal of the Health Minister Madan Mohan Mittal for his
blatant support to the unscrupulous elements in his department. Rana said, the
way Mittal had behaved rendered him absolutely unfit for the job.
In
a statement issued here today, the Punjab Congress vice president pointed out,
Mittal in a shameless manner had defended the wrong doers and unscrupulous doctors
who had been caught red handed doing private practice by his own Chief
Parliamentary Secretary.
The
Congress leader wondered as what was Mittal’s motive in defending such doctors
who were despite being in the government service were doing private practice.
Moreover, Rana remarked, they had been caught red handed.
He
asked the Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal to clarify the stand on the issue
as whether he supported Mittal on the issue or the Chief Parliamentary
Secretary. He pointed out, there was a clear war going on within the government
and the Chief Minister cannot afford to keep quiet. “Best course for the Chief
Minister is to sack the minister who has on record defended the corrupt and unscrupulous
elements for the reasons best known to him”, he observed, while adding, letting
him (Mittal) off will mean being supportive of him.
