CHANDIGARH, AUGUST 1
The Punjab Government has decided
to establish four state-of-arts Multi Skilled Development Centers (MSDC) at Ludhiana, Amritsar,
Bathinda and Hoshiarpur and to technically upgrade ITIs with the help of German
Company GIZ International Services. An MoU in this regard was today signed
between Punjab Government and the German Company, here today.
On behalf of Punjab Government Mr.
Anil Joshi, Industry and Technical Education Minister signed the MoU, whereas
from the Director, Projects Mr. Chaman Lal Dhanda from German Company put his
signature on the MoU.
Divulging the details of the pact,
Mr. Joshi said that MSDC would be the centers of international excellence,
which would operate as skill training-cum-production centers, creating
employment as well as provide requisite skilled manpower to industry as per
their requirement. He also said that These MSDCs would work on "Hub and
Spoke Model" where Hub would comprise of the main center and 8 to 10
satellite training centers would be attached to the main center. Mr. Joshi
further said that 8 to 10 acres of land would be required for each center. He
said that these four centers would impart training to one lakh trainees every
year.
Director Technical, GIZ Mr.
Srikant Bansal said that such type of skill centers has already been set up by
Government of Karnataka at Bangluru & Gulbarga after having MoU signed with
GIZ International Services. He said that German owned Company providing
consultancies to such institutes in 62 countries around the world. Besides that
it has been also been decided that 50 ITIs in Punjab
would be technically upgraded with consultation of this company.

Director Technical Education, Mrs. Daljit Kaur, Additional Director, Industrial
Training.
