The Punjab Deputy Chief Minister, Mr.
Sukhbir Singh Badal, today called media and advertisers to develop
appropriate technologies and innovations so that unfiltered message
could be taken to remote rural areas and to under privileged sections of
the society in an economic manner.
He said that media was focusing on
innovations like social network sites that have little relevance in the
lives of poor and those living in remote rural areas. He said that
emerging technologies have a great potential to play an important role
in the lives of crores of people belonging to unprivileged sections in
the growing economies like India.
After
inaugurating a three-day Media Expo 2012 here today at Pragati Maidan,
the Deputy Chief Minister pointed out that with every day innovations in
Media and Advertising, it becomes imperative for us to use these as
means of awareness thereby taking the development to the door steps of
most needed one’s. He said that though India’s growth rate was little
slow in recent times but in comparison of developed countries, the
future of business lies in India and we should take maximum advantage of
the situation. He said that international companies must understand
that they have great potential for business opportunities in India and
they should concentrate on it.
He further said that it was the high time
to showcase any development, potential of tourism or heritage promotion
to attract the tourists and business world and the Punjab government
was ready to launch a campaign regarding religious, cultural and
heritage importance of the holy city of Amritsar to bring it on global
map. He said that the advertising industry has made rapid strides and
within a short span it has became full-fledged industry and created a
niche for itself on the global map.
He expressed confidence that this
Media Expo would provide an excellent platform to the entrepreneurs of
indoor and outdoor advertising companies to showcase their products
besides exchanging their technical know how and expertise in different
means of advertising.
Mr.
Badal said that the Punjab government was always committed to adapt new
technologies/innovations in every sphere to ensure the overall and
balanced development of the state. He extended an open invitation to all
the companies showcasing their product at Media Expo 2012 to set up
their manufacturing units or other business ventures in Punjab and
promised to provide world class infrastructure and support.
It
may be mentioned here that world class quality products that were
displayed at the event included UV flat bed and Digital Textile
Printers, Wall Papers, Laser Engravers Etching Machines besides tile
printing and glass printing machines.
On
this occasion Syed Shahnawaz Hussain, Member Parliament, Mr. Pawan
Monga, President Ekta Mission and Mr. Gaurav Juneja, Chief Director,
Media Expositon and Events also expressed their views.
