INDIANAPOLIS: Estimated attendance at the Monument Circle
here on Sunday was 800. It was occasion to celebrate the India Day. The
function was organized by India Association of Indianapolis, headed by Kavya
Reddy, to celebrate the rich Indian culture and the 65th Independence
Day of India.
Attired in traditional Indian costumes, people of the Indian
origin, displayed the spirit of India. Indian food, including ‘samosas, dosas,
rice, chole-rice etc’ was available. Besides the variety of Indian food, Indian
arts, music, dances and fashion show made the India Day a very special for the
Indians who are settled here.
Popular music from Bollywood films dominated the stage as artists
performed dances for the enjoyment of the spectators. The fashion show too won
many hearts as the participants in vibrant dresses cat-walked on the stage. A
few young girls, attired in Tri-Colour, made their presence felt.
About 8000 Indian families are settled in Indianapolis who
started arriving here in late 1960s.
