206 absentee teachers dismissed in Punjab

         The  Punjab Government has dismissed 206 teachers/employees in the Education Department who have been absent from their duties for the last so many years.
          Disclosing this here today Mr Sikander Singh Maluka, Education Minister Punjab said that 166 Master cadre, 25 Sarv Siksha Abhiyan teachers, 6 Computer teachers and nine non-teaching employees have been dismissed. The Minister further said that the Director General Education School was asked to prepare a master plan to deal with the absentee staff and teachers accordingly a special cell was established in the office of DGSE to process inquired into the complaints against the teachers/employees. The DGSE, Mr. Kahan Singh Pannu, IAS said that almost eleven hundred complaints has been received which would be securitized and dealt with for strict action. It has been revealed that many teachers had proceeded on unauthorized leave and have gone abroad even more than 10 years ago.
          Mr. Pannu further said that strict action would be taken against the teachers/employees who fail to resume their duties. That before sanctioning the ex-India leave and affidavit from the applicant would be taken to the effect that the services would be dismissed in case they fail to resume their duty well in time. No laxity will be tolerated in this regard strict and firm action will be taken against the employees who remain absent unauthorisly. To provide quality and standard education the government will not leave any stone unturned.
