CHANDIGARH,

Road safety week has organised from
Ist January to 7th January 2013 in all the cities and towns of
Punjab on the theme of “Stay Alive, don’t drink and drive.”
A spokesman of Transport department
said here today that various activities like camps, workshops, meetings and
seminars have been organized by involving concerned departments and Non -
Governmental organizations to create awareness on the road safety. On this
occasion reflectors were also installed on the tractors, trolleys and other
vehicles.
Spokesman
informed that it is very unfortunate that almost 3500 persons lose their lives
every year due to road accidents. During the road safety week priority was
given to educate the people and generate a mass movement regarding road safety
rules in the state to reduce the road accidents.
He
said that by creating the awareness among the masses to avoid overloading, over
speeding, dangerous and rash driving, precious lives can be saved from dreaded
accidents.
