SRI MUKTSAR SAHIB,
JANUARY 13
In order to pave a way for the installation of BJP
led NDA government at Centre, Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal
today called upon the people to get ready for the coming Lok Sabha polls to
show the door to the UPA government at New Delhi.
Addressing a
massive gathering during a religious congregation after paying rich tributes to
the 40-Muktas (Liberated Ones) and Mai Bhago on the auspicious occasion of
Maghi here, the Chief Minister said that this was all the more important to
script a new chapter in the Indian polity for ensuring people friendly
government aimed at the welfare of different sections of society especially
poor, farmer, labor and traders.
He asked the people of Punjab especially all the
Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) MPs, MLAs and senior leadership of the party besides
party workers to reach Delhi tomorrow where he along with SAD President and
Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal would camp their till the general
election of Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) were over to
garner support in the favor of SAD to capture control of DSGMC by ensuring a
historic a victory in these elections as he and Deputy CM had already cancelled
their pre-scheduled engagements. Mr. Badal thanked the people of Punjab for
giving historic mandate to SAD-BJP alliance for serving the people of the state
for another consecutive term of five years adding he said the SAD-BJP
government would make all out efforts to accomplish its unfinished agenda to
usher in an era of unprecedented overall development and cherish the
aspirations of the people during the next four years.
He said it was an established fact that the
Congress was the No. 1 enemy of Punjab because it was least sensitized to the
problems of any class be it farmers, traders, labor, employees and
Industrialists. He said the Congress leadership both at Centre and State
believed in divisive politics for which the state Congress had fell in its own
trap during the last assembly elections by giving an opportunity to the SAD-BJP
alliance to retain power for the second term. He said, “Congress leadership
can’t be fool the people any more as it stood fully exposed before the people
saying it was agenda less, leaderless and even directionless”.
Making a
scathing attack on the Congress leadership at Centre, the Chief Minister said
that it had deliberately ruined the state peasantry due to the reasons best
known to them. He said the Punjab farmers was reeling under the huge debt of
Rs. 32,000 crore besides denying them remunerative MSP of their produce which
had left the beleaguered farmers at the crossroads. Realizing their hard work
and apathy of Centre towards them, the Chief Minister said that our government
had come to the rescue of farmers in terms of giving them power subsidy on tube
wells to the tune of Rs. 5800 crore. Mr. Badal said, “It is sheer mockery that
Punjab farmers who deserved at least some consolation in terms of remunerative
prices had been ignored blatantly for his enormous contribution in making our
country self-reliant in food production”.
Falsifying the
claims of Congress leadership that the SAD-BJP alliance government have ensured
all round development in the state only with the Central funds, Mr. Badal said
Centre was not at all doing any obligation on us rather it was their duty to
fund the development works and schemes of the state because 70% of revenue
collected through income tax and excise was kept by Centre and just 30% was
given to states in return which was totally unjustified and unfair.
He said the Centre had miserably failed in
safeguarding the security of the country and put the nation’s sovereignty in
peril several times be it Mumbai attacks and recent attacks by Pak troops on
Indian soldiers took an ugly turn when one of its solider was beheaded saying,
“It is a shameful act for the entire nation”. He also criticized the Congress
for its partisan role on the attack of Sri Harmandir Sahib, ’84 Sikh Genocide
besides direct interference in our religious affairs especially in the
elections of SGPC. He also said Congress at behest of its national leadership
was dillydallying election of DGSMC despite the orders from Apex court to
complete election process by 31 Dec, 2012. He said we had to file an appeal to
get the election process initiated of DSGMC elections which is now slated to
the held on January 27, 2013 for which he solicited the support from SAD and
its party workers to script a new chapter by winning this election.
Highlighting
the secular credentials of his party, Mr. Badal avowed that SAD-BJP alliance
would maintain the ethos of communal harmony, peace and brotherhood at every
cost. He said the alliance was the perfect example of communal harmony which
was evident of the fact that it represented 33% of the Dalit population, the
highest in the country, women, minorities etc. and to safeguard their rights we
have all ready constituted separate commissions for the welfare of SCs, Women
and Minorities to ensure due respect in the society. He also reiterated that
the state government was committed to protect the dignity and honor and had
already taken path breaking initiatives like no woman complainant would be
called at police station for registration of complaints.
He said the state government would soon recruit 500
women Sub-Inspectors to investigate the gender related crime effectively and
they would be posted in all the police station across the state. He said the
Chief Justice of Punjab & Haryana High court on his request had already designated
8 fast track courts to ensure speedy trails crimes especially rape and to
provide quick dispensation of justice to the victims of such heinous crime. He
said he had already requested the Union Law Minister Dr. Ashwani Kumar to
appoint women judges in the High Courts and subordinate courts to instill the
confidence amongst the women about the judiciary.
The Chief
Minister complimented the overall development and prosperity in the state in
spheres of power, infrastructure and urban development, he said the state
government had chalked out a massive program of 1700 crore to repair all the
link roads with in one year and install RO system with in one and half in the
state. He said that the state government spend Rs. 9000 crore on the overall
development and up gradation of urban infrastructure. To perpetuate the rich
legacy of our religion and culture, the state government had constructed
state-of-the art memorials of Chotta GHallughara at Kahnuwan, Wadda Ghallughara
at Kup Rohiran, Baba Banda War Memorial, Chapparchiri and VIrasat-e-Khalsa at
Sri Nanadpur Sahib and now another memorial Jang-e-Azadi would come up at
Kartarpur near Jalandhar to showcase the role of eminent Punjabi freedom
fighters in the National Freedom Struggle.
Highly
appreciating the role of Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal for his
meticulous planning and ensuring a historic win of SAD-BJP alliance in the last
assemble elections, Mr. Badal said that Mr. Sukhbir Singh had efficiently
handled the affairs of the SAD and was capable to face bigger challenges for
the overall development and welfare of the state and its people.
In his
address, the Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal paid homage to the
40 Muktas and Mai Bhago ji on this historic occasion and said that the glorious
past of Shiromani Akali Dal was replete with numerous sacrifices and the party
was committed to protect the self esteem and dignity of every Punjabi. He said the
SAD-BJP alliance government was committed to safeguard the interest of every
section of the society which have reposed their unstinted faith and confidence
by electing us for the second time and now it was our bounden duty to fulfill
the dreams of the people. Seeking overall support and cooperation from the rank
and file of the party, Mr. Sukhbir Singh said that the now the time has come to
oust the cronies of Congress leadership during the forthcoming DSGMC elections
as they have already marvelously done during the assembly polls in 2012.
He said after this they should be ready for Moga
bye-election which would be won by the alliance with the huge margin and
subsequently be ready for the final battle to throw UPA government from Centre
for the installation of NDA government so that the people of Punjab especially
the farmers and poor could sigh of relief. He said the SAD-BJP alliance under
the leadership of Mr. Badal implemented pro-poor initiatives like free
Atta-Dal, Shagun, and old age pension besides free power to the farmers.
Lambasting at
the Congress leadership, Mr. Sukhbir Singh said that it was now bereft of any
concrete agenda to pursue rather indulging in mudslinging just to gain cheap
political mileage in the media. He said Congress has surpassed all the records
of falsehood by propagating a malicious campaign to defame SAD-BJP alliance
though misrepresentation of facts. He cautioned the people not to be swayed by
the false propaganda of Congress accusing the SAD-BJP government of bankrupt
adding the Deputy Chief Minister said, “By God’s grace there would be no dearth
of funds especially to implements the schemes for poor and programs of overall
development in state because we believed in serving the people in the right
earnest not just to rule over them”. He criticized the state Congress for
creating hype over registration of false cases against 50,000 Congress workers
adding Mr. Sukhbir Singh doubted whether the Congress had total membership of
50,000 workers or not in the state.
Speaking on
the occasion, Information & Public Relations and Revenue Minister Mr.
Bikram Singh Majithia said that the state Congress leadership has lost the
confidence of the people of Punjab as they have taught them a befitting lesson
in the assembly polls-2012. He said Congress would again meet the same fate in
the Moga bye-election and advised the Congress leaders instead of making tall
claims of capturing Moga seat rather they should make sincere efforts to
prevail upon the other Congress sitting MLAs who were frustrated with the
infighting with in the Congress and were ready to join SAD at any moment. He
