National Voter Day to be celebrated on January 25

National Voter Day would be celebrated on January 25, 2013 and a special voter registration campaign would also be launched for the youths from January 6 to 25, 2013 in the state of Punjab.

A spokesperson of the Chief Electoral Officer, Punjab today said that during the ongoing summary revision from October 1 to 31,2012,  the commission  has invited claims and objections.          He said that in that period, the Commission has received a record number of 9.50 Lakh claims and Objections (Form 6).  He further said that now the voter identity cards would be distributed on January 5, 2013.

He said that, a special voter registration campaign would be launched from January 6 to 25, for those citizens, who would attain the age of 18 by 01.01.2013 and have not yet registered themselves as voters. Identity cards would also be given to them at the polling stations itself.
