Sukhbir directs DGP to take strictest action against guilty police officers

The Punjab Deputy Chief Minister, Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal, today asked DGP Mr. Sumedh Singh to take immediate and strictest possible action against guilty police officers who had delayed investigation and action against, who were found wanting in their duty in the gang rape case of a girl of village Badshahpur in Patiala district.
        The Deputy Chief Minister, who is also holding the Home portfolio, said that he would not tolerate any insensitivity and dereliction of duty especially in the cases of crime against women. He asked IG Zonal Patiala, Mr. Parmjit Singh Gill to conduct a thorough inquiry to fix the responsibility of the guilty officers and submit a report within one week.
        On the basis of the preliminary enquiry Mr. Badal asked DGP to suspend DSP Patran Mr. Harpreet Singh and dismiss SHO Ghagga Gurcharan Singh and Investigating Officer & ASI Nasib Singh from the services with immediate effect.
        Meanwhile all the three accused in the concerned case have already been arrested by Punjab police.,
