Punjab best state in country for roads and bridges infrastructure: Dhillon

 The Punjab has been declared the best state in the country in terms of building up road networks, construction of bridges, road connectivity and infrastructure facilities as Mrs. Meira Kumar, Lok Sabha Speaker conferred the ‘IBN Best Core Infrastructure Award’ to Mr. Sharanjit Singh Dhillon, PWD Minister, Punjab at Delhi.
           Disclosing this here today, Mr. Sharanjit Singh Dhillon, PWD Minister, Punjab said that the Punjab has been adjudged as the ‘Best State’ in the country for upgrading the road networks and infrastructure besides constructing exemplary road connectivity. He said that the IBN-7 has had conducted a survey in this regard through out the country after which Punjab has been chosen as the best in the country. Due to busy schedule of Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal and Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal, Mr. Dhillon had to receive this award.
           Extending credit to Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister for this huge achievement, Mr. Dhillon said that it was the result of positive approach of both leaders, who brought Punjab on the pinnacle of development.  He said that Punjab has gone far from several states in the field of development and in the near future it will set more examples in the area of development. 
         The PWD Minister also informed that in next two years all the major and link roads in Punjab would be linked with 4/6 lane network as the works of 6 laning on highways and 4 laning on main roads were on full swing. He said that the under construction five District Administration Complexes at Tarn Taran, Barnala, Ferozepur, Kapurthala and Ajitgarh would become operational by March 2013 with a combined cost of Rs. 270 crore. The Minister also informed that the SAD-BJP Government has also completed the construction of 15 University Colleges with a total cost of Rs. 180 crore. 
         Prominent amongst those were present in the award receiving ceremony at New Delhi included Mr. Raj Deep Sardesai, Editor-in-Chief IBN-7 and ministers from various states including Madhya Pradesh, Mizoram, Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar etc.
