Punjab to launch campaign to educate consumers

The Punjab Government has decided to launch a weeklong awareness campaign to educate consumers regarding his rights and duties during Consumer Protection Week (CPW) in the State from December 24 to 30. The state has decided to organise various programs to sensitize the consumers about their rights.
Disclosing this here today, an official spokesperson said that the objective behind this is to strengthen the relation and foster the trust between the consumer and traders. He said that throughout the week, various program would be conducted in the rural and urban areas of the state, in which prominent personalities and representatives of the consumer protection institutions would sensitize the consumers about their rights. The spokesperson further said that rallies, meetings and exhibitions would be carried out on the theme of consumer protection, in which IEC (Information, Education and Communication) material would also be distributed to the public.
He said that the Divisional Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners would listen to the grievances of the consumers and would redress their problems on the spot. He said that the quiz, poster making and essay writing competitions would be organized in the schools throughout the state. He said that the Station Director of Radio and Television has been requested to telecast special program on the theme of consumer protection besides all the department in public dealing have also been instructed to listen to the grievances of the public and redress their problem.
