Maluka places principal under suspension

The Punjab Education Minister, Mr. Sikander Singh Maluka, today placed Mr. Baljinder Singh, Principal Government Model Senior Secondary School, Phase-3B1, Ajitgarh under suspension after he and 16 teachers/staff members were found late during the surprise raid. Besides this, 5 lecturers namely Navjot Kaur (Commerce), Navinderjit Kaur (Biotechnology), Inderjeet Kaur (Physics), Tejinderpal Kaur (Economics) and Amritpal Kaur (English) were also found absent.
During the surprise raid, the Education Minister also found that the place of Morning Prayer was filled with muddy water and due to un-cleanliness, the washrooms were stinking and there was also no arrangement of drinking water. The Minister warned the latecomers and categorically said that no complacency would be tolerated on the part of teaching or non-teaching staff. The Minister asked the Secretary School Education to seek the explanation of absent lecturers and to send their replies to his office along with his comments.
Talking to media persons, the Education Minister said that the state government was committed to improve the education standards in the government schools and he would made surprise raids more frequently throughout the state. He also directed the District Education Officers to conduct surprise visits with the dual purpose of ensuring punctuality of teachers as well as the standards of education being imparted in government schools.
Later on, the Education Minister made a surprise raid in Government High School, Desu Majra and found Art & Craft teacher Harjit Kaur absent there. He also directed to seek her explanation.
