Punjab launching unique education scheme for poor rural students

In a bid to provide best possible higher education free of cost to the brilliant students of poor families especially with rural background in top private schools of the state, the Punjab Government would soon launch a unique education scheme with the help of renowned private educational institutions.
A decision to this effect was taken by the Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal during a meeting with the renowned educationists and intelligentsia here at his official residence today.
Underscoring the need to impart quality education to these students, the Chief Minister called upon the eminent educationists and academicians to make sincere efforts to provide quality education to these students in their schools to enable them to compete at par with other students.  Mr. Badal also urged them to open more new educational branches of their institutions to cater the need of these deprived students.
He said that keeping education sector on priority, the Punjab government was fully committed to impart quality education in the state. “It is a bounden duty on the part of all of us to cherish the aspirations of this disadvantaged section of the students and save our young intelligent potential that could prove to be an asset to the nation in future,” said Mr. Badal.  He also assured the full some support from the government side for this noble cause. He also directed Director General of School Education to visit various interested private schools to study their requirement in term of hostel accommodation and other infrastructure to initiate this scheme.
