2444960 tonnes paddy procured in Punjab

    Paddy Procurement is on full swing in Punjab. Government agencies and private millers procured more than 2444960  tonnes of paddy till last evening. The State Government has set up more than 1770  procurement centres and activated its total machinery to ensure smooth procurement of paddy

 The spokesman of the Punjab government said that Out of total procurement of 2444960  tonnes of paddy in all the procurement centers of Punjab, Government agencies procured 2109686 tonnes of paddy till date whereas private traders procured 335274 tonnes of paddy. Till October 15, PUNGRAIN procured 540175  tonnes (25.6%), MARKFED procured 474141  tonnes (22.5%). whereas PUNSUP had procured 492867 tonnes (23.4%) PSWC procured 217362 tonnes (10.3%) whereas PAFC was able to procure 224031  tonnes (10.6%) of paddy.The Central Government agency FCI had  been able to procure 161110  tonnes (13.7%). 

          The spokesman added that District Tarn Taran with 349034 tonnes of procurement was leading in procurement operations whereas District Ferozpur with 343483 tonnes of procurement was at second slot and district Jalandhar with 260987  tonnes of procurement ranked at third position.
