Pungrain leads in paddy procuement in Punjab

         Paddy procurement is on full swing in Punjab. State procurement agency PUNGRAIN achieved first position in paddy procurement. PUNGRAIN procured 2263104, the 26.5 per cent of the total procurement of the state, till october 10.

        Government agencies and private millers procured more than 1236243 tonnes of wheat till last evening. The State Government has set up more than 1770  procurement centres and activated its total machinery to ensure smooth procurement of paddy

 The spokesman of the Punjab government said that out of total procurement of 123643 tonnes of paddy in all the procurement centers of Punjab, Government agencies procured 9912225 tonnes of paddy till date whereas private traders procured 245018 tonnes of paddy. Till October 10, PUNGRAIN procured 263104  tonnes (26.5%), MARKFED procured 230407 tonnes (23.2%). whereas PUNSUP had procured 220344 tonnes (22.2%) PSWC procured 83484  tonnes (8.4%) whereas PAIC was able to procure 105105 tonnes (10.6%) of paddy.The Central Government agency FCI had  been able to procure 88781  tonnes (9.0%). 

          The spokesman added that District Tarn Taran with 254244 tonnes of procurement was leading in procurement operations whereas District Kapurthla with 150042 tonnes of procurement was at second slot and district Ferozpur with 140349  tonnes of procurement ranked at third position.
