6599311 tonnes paddy procured in Punjab

          Paddy Procurement is on full swing in Punjab. Government agencies and private millers procured more than 6599311 tonnes of paddy till last evening. The State Government has set up more than 1770 procurement centres and activated its total machinery to ensure smooth procurement of paddy.

 The spokesman of the Punjab government said that Out of total procurement of 6599311  tonnes of paddy in all the procurement centers of Punjab, Government agencies procured 6125207 tonnes of paddy till date whereas private traders procured 474104  tonnes of paddy. Till October 25, PUNGRAIN procured 1716950  tonnes (28.0%), MARKFED procured 1400597  tonnes (22.9%). whereas PUNSUP had procured 1405511 tonnes (22.9%) PSWC procured 638930 tonnes (10.4%) whereas PAFC was able to procure  648956 tonnes (10.6%) of paddy.The Central Government agency FCI had  been able to procure 314263  tonnes (5.1%). 

          The spokesman added that District Ferozpur with 662446 tonnes of procurement was leading in procurement operations whereas District Patiala with 563822  tonnes of procurement was at second slot and district Ludhiana with 535507 tonnes of procurement ranked at third position.
