296795 tons paddy procured in Punjab

          Paddy Procurement is on full swing in Punjab. Government agencies and private millers procured more than 296795  tonnes of paddy till last evening. The State government  has made arrangements for the procurement of 150 lac MT of paddy in 1770 notified mandis/purchase centers against the expected arrival of 135 lac MT during the current Kharif season.

.         The spokesman of the Punjab government said that Out of total procurement of 296795 tonnes of paddy in all the procurement centers of Punjab, Government agencies procured 148087 tonnes of paddy till date whereas private traders procured 148708 tonnes of paddy. Till October 6, PUNGRAIN procured 39910 tonnes (27.0%), MARKFED procured 29128 tonnes (19.7%). whereas PUNSUP had procured 27209 tonnes (18.4%) PSWC procured 7510  tonnes (5.1%) whereas PAIC was able to procure 15967 tonnes (10.8 %) of paddy.The Central Government agency FCI had  been able to procure 28363  tonnes (19.2%). 

          The spokesman added that District Tarn Taran with 77626 tonnes of procurement was leading in procurement operations whereas District Amritsar with 51830 tonnes of procurement was at second slot and district Kapurthla with 32252  tonnes of procurement ranked at third position.
