Kashmiri girls call on Punjab Governor

CHANDIGARH, OCT 6

A group of 17 Kashmiri School girls of Bandipora district of Jammu & Kashmir today called on Punjab Governor, Mr. Shivraj V. Patil under Educational-cum-Motivational Tour at Punjab Raj Bhavan.
        Interacting with girls, Mr. Patil asked them about the places they visited. The girls replied that they have visited various historical and tourist spots of Agra, Delhi and Chandigarh. Sharing their views the students said that the tour was a wonderful experience for them, as they were having a memorable time visitng places of historical and academic interests. They said that they have travelled in Metro Train for the first time in Delhi.
Mr. Patil asked the girls to maintain diary and share your exerpience with the people of your village and student of your school. He said such educational tour to other part of the country would help in strengthening the bond of mutual love and understanding. He said that you all are citizens of India and you were allowed to go in any part of the country for education, employment and can also live anywhere freely.
Appreciating the role of Indian Army for conducting such educational-cum-motivational tours, Mr. Patil said that through this initiative the young minds are being ignited with the motivation of patriotism and also helps in getting these young minds of the valley in the positive path of the national building. He said this step would
also provide opportunity to these students for interacting with people, to increase awareness and understanding and thereby enabling them to identify more closely with their fellow countrymen.
Major Anshuman Yadav along with his wife who led this team said that the ladies always performs constructive role in the society and hence this tour exclusively planned for young girls and women of Bandipora (J&K). The tour aims to expose these young impressionable minds to the world outside the valley. He said 80% of these girls travelled for the first time in the train.
Prominent amongst others who were present in the meeting included Mr. M.P. Singh, Principal Secretary to Governor and Major Vivek Anand, ADC.
