Ferozpur leads in paddy procurement in Punjab

Paddy Procurement is on full swing in Punjab. District Ferozpur with 417673 tonnes of procurement was leading in procurement operations whereas District Tarn Taran  with 397765 tonnes of procurement was at second slot and district Jalandhar with 306551  tonnes of procurement ranked at third position.       

       The Government agencies and private millers procured more than 3072469 tonnes of Paddy till last evening.

        The spokesman added that Out of total procurement of 3072469 tonnes of Paddy in all the procurement centers of Punjab, Government agencies procured 2701042  tonnes of Paddy till date whereas private traders procured 371427 tonnes of Paddy. Till October 18, PUNGRAIN had procured 700224 tonnes (25.9%) whereas MARKFED procured 601296 tonnes (22.3%). PUNSUP procured 632376 tonnes (23.4%), PSWC procured 288071  tonnes (10.7%) whereas PAFC was able to procure 286980 tonnes (10.6 %) of Paddy. The Central Government agency FCI had been able to procure 192075 tonnes (7.1%).

The State Government has set up more than 1770 procurement centres and activated its total machinery to ensure smooth procurement of Paddy, the spokesman added.
