CHANDIGARH, OCT 26
In view of the impending visit of the Canadian Prime Minister Mr Stephen Harper
to the state on November 7, the Punjab Chief Minister Mr Parkash Singh Badal
has cancelled his official trip to Bologna in Italy.
Disclosing this here today a spokesperson of the Chief
Minister’s Office said that Mr Badal was scheduled to lead a delegation of
eminent farm equipment manufacturers and progressive farmers from the state at
the “International Agricultural Machinery Exhibition-2012” there from November
7 to 11.
Assuming the significance of the visit of Mr Harper, the Chief Minister took
this decision to immediately cancel his visit to Bologna. The Canadian Prime Minister was slated
to visit Sri Harmandir Sahib at Amritsar to pay her obeisance there and the
prestigious Virasat-e-Khalsa at Sri Anandpur Sahib, the spokesperson
added.
BADALS
FELICITATE PEOPLE ON ID-UL-ZUHA
Punjab Chief
Minister Parkash Singh Badal and Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal today
greeted the Punjabis especially the Muslim brethren on the eve of Id-ul-Zuha
(Bakrid).
In his
message, the Chief Minister said “Id-ul-Zuha evokes feeling of brotherhood,
charity and empathy for the needy and the underprivileged. Let us,
reaffirm our resolve to further strengthen the spirit of brotherhood, unity of
cultural bonds, peace and national integration”.
Mr. Badal
appealed to the people to celebrate this festival in unison by rising above petty
considerations of caste, colour, creed and religion.
In
a message, Mr. Sukhbir said that Bakrid was a festival of sacrifice of worldly
things for the will of the God. Extending heartily greetings to all Muslim
brethren on this occasion, the Deputy Chief Minister said that on this
auspicious day of commemorative sacrifice, we should all rededicate ourselves
to uphold the principles of love, compassion and understanding and affirm to
live in fellowship as brothers and sisters, in the true.
