Dr
Linus Von Castemur, Ambassador of Switzerland in India
today called on Speaker of Punjab Vidhan Sabha Mr Charanjit Singh Atwal at his
office and stressed the
need for improving bilateral relation between India
and Switzerland.
During
the hour long meeting with Mr Atwal , Dr Linus Kang said that he was quite
impressed with the development of Punjab and surprised to know that the Punjab
was contributing more than 50 % food grains in the central kitty, having just 1.6 % area of the country.
He said that the Switzerland
was desirous of strengthening ties with India in the field of Trade,
Industry, and agriculture and especially in the education sector. He said that India, the
biggest democracy of the world was a fountain head of true democratic set up
and healthy practices. He also visited the Punjab Vidhan Sabha hall.
During
the discussion Mr Atwal appealed Mr Lunis to support India
for the permanent seat in the Security Council of United Nations as India is the
largest democracy in the world and playing a key role in maintaining world
peace and other important affairs. He also told the delegation about the
development of Infrastructure in the state and invited the Swiss investors to
invest in the state.
Earlier,
Mr Atwal welcomed the delegation and hounred them with a Phulkari and
photo of Punjab Vidhan Sabha. Mr Atwal also briefly outlined about the
Legislative procedures and practices of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha.
