CHANDIGARH, OCT 8
In order
to develop dairy farming and encourage youth towards adopting it as a lucrative
business in Punjab, the state government has
decided to give 25 percent subsidy on the purchase of milch cattle. An advanced
institute of dairy farming in collaboration with Israeli firm Dairy Farming
Solutions (DFS) would be set up in the state. The institute would also provide
the technique for the scientific handling and processing of milk.
Disclosing
this here today Mr. Sarwan Singh Phillaur, Dairy Development Minister Punjab
said that more hi-tech dairy units would be set up in the state and the subsidy
amount for setting up the dairy units with 2 to 10 cattle would be deposited in
the account of the beneficiary once the dairy unit was set up. Adding further,
the minister said that in order to promote Dairy as an alternative venture to
the agriculture, the Dairy Development Department has launched a comprehensive
training Programme for young dairy farmers in the state. He
called upon the trainees to acquire excellence in the venture, so that they
could run profitable dairying on modern lines as per latest techniques. He also
emphasized the need to develop best breed of cows and buffaloes to enhance the
production of milk in terms of quality and quantity.
