CHANDIGARH, JAN 28
Mr. Jasbir Singh Gill has
been elected President of the NRI Sabha, Punjab. He defeated Mr. Kamaljit Singh Hayer, former
President of NRI Sabha by a margin of 197 votes. The election was held today at
Jalandhar.
Announcing the results, Assisrant
Returning Officer, NRI Sabha, Punjab Iqbal Singh Sandhu,PCS, said that Mr
Jasbir Singh Gill polled 657 votes while Mr. Kamaljit Singh Hayer received 460 votes. Mr. Pritam Singh Narangpur obtained
452 votes. One thousand six hundred and twenty four votes were polled out which 55 were rejected on technical grounds..
