University College Dhilwan renamed as Sri Guru Teg Bahadur University College

 Chandigarh, January 10: The Punjab Education Minister Mr. Sikander Singh Maluka today gave nod to rename University College, Dhilwan (Barnala) as Sri Guru Teg Bahadur University College.
Disclosing this here today, a spokesman of state education department informed that this decision has been taken after considering the various representations regarding this as it was pointed out in them that Sri Guru Teg Bahadur had stayed nine months and nine days at this place so it has a great historic significance in Sikh history.
CENTRE OF EXCELLENCE SCHEME EXTENDED UPTO 2014
 After the constant efforts of Punjab Government, The Union Government today extended the Centre of Excellence Scheme upto November 2014.
Giving the details about the decision taken by the Union Government, Technical Education Minister of Punjab Mr Anil Joshi said that decision in this regard has been taken after the Punjab Government has taken the issue with the Union Labour Ministry. He said that now the Instructors/Guest Faculty employed under this scheme would not be relieved. The Minister further said that if any person had earlier been relieved, he/she would be employed again.
ONE IPS OFFICER TRANSFERRED
The Punjab Government today issued the posting and transfer order of one IPS officer in the state with immediate effect.
    Disclosing this here today a spokesman of the Home Department Punjab said that Mr. Gaurav Yadav IPS Inspector General of Police/EOW, Crime Punjab Chandigarh has been posted as Inspector General of Police/IVC, Punjab Chandigarh and also hold the additional charge of Inspector General of Police-cum-Commissioner of Police Jalandhar.
