310 buses to be on road in Ludhiana and Amritsar

The Punjab Government has kicked started the quality bus facilities for the passengers in Ludhiana and Amritsar districts to provide better and uninterrupted bus service and in this regard a tender has been issued for the supply of 310 buses for these cities.
Disclosing this here today, a spokesman of State Government said that Government had chalked out a comprehensive plan to introduce city bus service in six cities including Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Amritsar, Patiala, Bathanda and Mohali under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Mission. Under this scheme the Government would expand the city bus service in Ludhiana and Amritsar by adding 160 and 150 buses respectively.  
The spokesman further said that state Government committed to provide the quality public transport facilities to the people of the state and for this purpose it has also been decided to add 350 new buses in existing fleet of PUNBUS and 60 buses in the fleet of Punjab Roadways. One hundred new buses of PRTC would also be on road very shortly.
