The Punjab
Government has ear marked Rs. 6039 crore to provide water supply and sewerage facility
to the 100% urban population of the state. The work on this project has already
been started and the target would be achieved within one year.
It was
disclosed by Mr. Chunni lal Bhagat, Local Bodies Minister of Punjab in a press release
today. He said that under this project till date Rs. 4014 crore has been
allocated by SAD-BJP Government. He further said that 88 % of the urban
population has been covered under water supply where as 63% of the urban
population is having sewerage facility.
The Minister
said that SAD-BJP Government is committed to upgrade the basic amentias to the
urban populations so the remaining population in the urban areas would soon be
covered with water supply and sewerage.
