PPCB to allot land for setting up of CETP

Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB) chairman Ravinder Singh said that the board is committed to facilitate the industry and will provide the necessary support to the industrialists.  He added that the board will facilitate allotment of land for  setting up of a Common Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP) in the region  and also help in getting grants from CPCB and MoEF to make it more viable.
The assurance was given in a meeting organized by PHD Chamber and Derabassi Industries Association with the officers of the PPCB.
Mr Pranav Gupta, Co-Chairman Haryana Committee said that once CETP is in place, Industry will not have to concentrate on running ETP plants but the core businesses which shall in turn lead to industrial growth in the region.
Mr Rakesh Aggarwal, General Secretary , Derabassi Industries Association mentioned that though Industries are very keen to run their ETP plants but lack of skilled manpower renders them incapable, hence the need for CETP which shall ensure compliance with pollution norms.
 Around 50 industry representatives were present during the meeting and raised their concerns regarding the CETP.
