Physically challenged employees to get 3 per cent quota in promotions

CHANDIGARH, JULY 11
The Punjab Government today issued strict instructions for the implementation of 3 per cent quota in promotions to physically challenged employee of the state with effect from 6th March, 2011.
Disclosing this here today, an official spokesperson of Social Security and Women and Child Welfare Department said that written instructions in this regards have been issued to all the departmental heads, Commissioners of Divisions, Deputy Commissioners, Registrar, Punjab and Haryana High Court, District and Sessions Judges, Sub Divisional Officer (Civil) and Chairman, Punjab Public Service Commission to strictly implement 3 per cent quota in promotions to all the physically challenged employees.
He said that with these instructions, the orders of Hon’ble Punjab and Haryana High Court of 23th March, 2012 have also been attached. The spokesman further said that as per the orders of Court, this department would identify the concerned posts, on which the physically challenged employees were to be promoted. He said that all the departments have been asked to furnish the details of the action taken in this regard within one months of the receipt of this letter.
He said that besides this, physically challenged employees were entitled to submit their special claim, if any, before the competent authority.
