CM expresses grief over death of 13 persons in bus accident

Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today expressed profound grief and anguish over the tragic incident in which 13 persons including 12 school children and a bus driver were killed and four children were seriously injured in a head on collision between the school bus and a truck near village Gohir on Jalandhar-Nakodar Road
Sharing his heartfelt sympathies with the members of the bereaved families, the Chief Minister prayed to the Almighty to give them courage to bear this irreparable loss in the hour of crisis and grant peace to the departed souls. Meanwhile Mr. Badal also announced an ex-gratia grant Rs 2 lakh each to the next of kin of the deceased and directed the district administration to provide free treatment to all the injured.  
Mr  Badal today expressed profound grief and sorrow over the sad demise of veteran Akali leader and former MLA from Samana Mr Gurdev Singh Grewal (90) who breathed last today morning at Patiala after a prolonged illness. He is survived by wife, two sons and a daughter.
Sharing his heartfelt sympathies with members of the bereaved family, the Chief Minister described Mr Grewal as a disciplined and committed soldier of the party. Mr Badal said that his contribution in the development of the region and the welfare of people would be ever remembered by one and all. It may be recalled that Mr Gurdev Singh Grewal was elected MLA from Samana assembly constituency in 1977.
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister prayed to the Almighty to grant eternal peace to the departed soul and give strength to the family, relatives and friends to bear this irreplaceable loss.
The Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal expressed shock over the tragic accident near Nakodar in which 13 persons including 12 school students died on the spot.
He directed the District Jalandhar Administration to provide free of cost medical treatment to the injured students besides providing logistic support to the families of deceased students. He also directed the District Police Authorities to make comprehensive arrangements for smooth flow of traffic on all important but congested roads of the district especially during school and office hours.
Expressing his heartfelt sympathies with the members of the bereaved families, Mr. Badal prayed to Almighty to grant peace to the departed souls and strength to their families to bear these irreparable losses.
