Vasudeva asks retired engineers to impart skill development training to unemployed youth

CHANDIGARH, MARCH 22
Former Chief Secretary Punjab and President of Govt. Pensioners Association (Regd.) Mr. KD Vasudeva, IAS (Retd.) today called upon the pensioners to play a pro-active role in mobilizing the youth to enable them to become ideal citizens of the society on one hand and share their rich expertise and knowledge to steer their life by initiating skill development programs on the other. 
Addressing the seminar aimed at sensitizing the youth for making contribution towards nation’s development organized here at the Institute of Engineers by the Punjab Irrigation Retired Engineers' Welfare Association, Mr. Vasudeva who is also the Chief Patron of the Association, asked the retired engineers to impart skill development training to the youngsters in order to re-orient their professional and technical skills to enable them to be gainfully employed.
Summing up the deliberations, Mr. Vasudeva advised the pensioners to realize their tremendous potential and utilize the same judiciously to the best of their abilities and capacities to repay the debt owed to the state by discharging their duties diligently towards the nation in general and the state in particular.  
            Earlier, in his address the President of the Association Er. K.L. Bhargava said that since our pensions have been revised and reasonably raised, we should now feel contented and concentrate on inculcating the sense of responsibility amongst our members.  He pointed out that our youth were crazy to become rich over night by easy means without putting in any hard work. Out of frustration they were driven to drug addiction and falling prey to the criminal activities which posed a grave threat to our society.
               Earlier, a panel of eminent professionals and intellectuals from different walks of life was formed to suggest a comprehensive and workable plan to involve the youth in the developmental activities by inculcating a spirit of nationalism and work culture amongst them.
               On the occasion, the Chief Guest Mr. KL Zakir, Deputy Chairman Haryana Urdu Academy appreciated the sincere and dedicated efforts put in by the Association and hoped the entire team would play a pivotal role in enabling the unemployed youth to cherish the dream of Mahatma Gandhi, the father of Nation.
            Prominent amongst others who spoke on the occasion included Mr. A.C. Sharma IAS (Retd.), Vice President GPA, Mr. Gurnam Singh, General Secretary GPA Mr. Rajeshwar Sharma, Mr. RK Sharma PCS (Retd.) and Chairman Institute of People Education Principal S. Chowdary also shared their rare experiences in varied fields.
