Urban population be sensitized about e-governance

The Punjab Government has devised a road map to sensitize the urbane population of the state about the virtues of the e-Governance delivery system, which has successfully been implemented in Municipalities, Corporations and Nagar Panchayats across the state, said Mr. Chunni Lal Bhagat, Minster for Local Bodies, Punjab, in a press statement here today.
The Minister said that the most ambitious e governance project, which was aiming at providing various day to day services to the urban population in transparent and hassle free manner, was successfully running in the state. He said that 162 services were being delivered under this project and 30 lakh population of the state was availing the services sitting in their homes. “The Punjab Government has decided to further sensitize the urban population about the high merits of the e-Governance delivery system through conducing seminars across the state, IEC material would also be distributed to the public” added minster.
The Minister further said that under e-Governance 162 services were being provided in 30 sectors and 35 services were provided on the priority basis. He said that now the residents could get the services like birth & death certificates, bills of water and sewerage, NOCs etc using internet at their homes.
