Punjab rationalizes 818 government primary & upper primary schools

The Punjab Government has decided to rationalize 818 government primary and upper primary schools in different blocks of the state for effective management and smooth functioning. It was disclosed by Mr. Sikander Singh Maluka, Education Minister, Punjab.
In a press communiqué, Mr. Maluka said that during review, many shortcomings have noticed in the management of primary and upper primary schools. He said that some of the blocks have primary and upper primary schools in large numbers, whereas some of the blocks have comparatively less number of schools, which results in uneven distribution of work load on the teachers. The Education Minister further said that the blocks, where the schools are in abundance, the work load over the teachers increases, on the other hand the blocks, which have less number of schools, the work load over the teachers is comparatively much less.
Mr. Maluka said that keeping this problem in mind, the Punjab Government has decided to rationalize the number of schools in each block. He said that the rationalization would come in force from April 1, 2013 and Director General School Education (DGSE) Mr. Kahan Singh Pannu has been instructed to furnish the details of the schools comes under rationalization before April 1, 2013 to the District Education Officers (Elementary Education). Mr. Maluka further said that it would be the duty of the parental block (before the rationalization) to submit the utilization certificates of the use of government funds.
