Vigilance nabs police inspector and constable in briberry case

 State Vigilance Bureau during its ongoing drive against rampant corruption today nabbed a Police Inspector and Constable posted in Excise department red handed accepting bribe.
Disclosing this here today, Mr. Suresh Arora, Chief Director-cum-DGP Vigilance Bureau Punjab said that Bureau has put up its best efforts to eradicate corruption amongst public servants and others in every sphere in the State. In this direction, the Vigilance Bureau caught Ranjit Singh Inspector Police and Hardip Singh Constable posted in Excise department district Jalandhar, demanding and accepting bribe from the complainant Jinderpal of village Palliwali, Nakodar for implicating him falsely in under excise act.
He added that the complainant approached the Bureau and alleged that both the accused police officials have raided his house without any official duty and nothing was found from his premises. Despite that they were demanding a bribe of Rs. 5,000 for not to book him in an excise case. After finding the veracity of facts a vigilance team led by Mr Satpal DSP Vigilance Bureau Jalandhar laid a trap and both the accused were nabbed red handed near Railway Station Nakodar in the presence of two government officials as witnesses. The tainted money was recovered from them. In this regard a vigilance case under u/s 7, 13 (1) read with 13 (2) of Prevention of Corruption Act 1988 at Vigilance Bureau Police Station Jalandhar and further investigation was under progress.
